Homesick

Wood-look shoe?

I've hardly been at home of late and I'm just back from the Zlín Film Festival (CZ) and a return visit to the spiritual home of Bata-ville. Despite staying in a lovely (& stuffed!) hotel and generally having a good time the visit was so close on the heels of Kentwell WW II that I am ...

a) Glad to be home
b) Glad to be in 2006

... at least for the next two weeks before Karen and I join the Tudors once more for the summer 3 week 'main event'.

As I draw near to any big project I always find it hard to switch off to anything related & this week I even found myself pinching one of my students text books during a tutorial for reference. It certainly wasn't hard in Zlín to find many things re-enactment-related ... at the shoe museum both 40's and potentially Tudor.

This number topped the cross referencing interests charts though ... part hamster, part shoe, part historic and top weird. Apparently it showed of the Zlín shoe maker's extreme craft skills.
