Maywa Denki's Sellotape
I'm in Tokyo with Fiona Raby and our students from the 1st year of the RCA design interactions course. It's a flying visit with plenty packed in ... yesterday's highlight was a visit to the rather charming world of Maywa Denki and his (slightly nippy) garage-style studio/workshop.
The man himself was very sweet, slowly unpacking some of his amazing objects and products and allowing us to paw his sketch books. One of his co-workers made us tea and he chatted in broken English and bits of Japanese whilst between us we took about 1000 photos of everything from his packing cases to precious objects.
My favorite thing was his packing tape collection
